4.2.3 For
salt-water ballast and buoyancy tanks, where a protective coating
is found to be in POOR condition, as defined in Pt 1, Ch 3, 1.4 Definitions 1.4.8, where a soft coating
has been applied or where no protective coating has been applied from
the time of construction, maintenance of class will be subject to
the spaces in question being internally examined and gauged as necessary
at Annual Surveys.
4.2.4 For
all linkspans over five years of age and up to 10 years of age, representative
salt-water ballast and buoyancy tanks are to be examined. For tanks,
where a protective coating is found in POOR condition, as defined
in Pt 1, Ch 3, 1.4 Definitions 1.4.8, or other defects
are found, where a soft coating has been applied or where a protective
coating was not applied from the time of construction, the examination
is to be extended to other ballast tanks of the same type.
4.2.5 For

tanks are to be examined.
