Section 4 Specific approval test results

4.1 General

4.1.1 Following the materials specialist’s agreement to the test plan, the works will manufacture approval test materials. The various stages of manufacture and all approval testing are to be witnessed by the LR Surveyor. All test results will be endorsed by the Surveyor. All details listed in Ch 3, 4.2 Approval test programme submission, together with the test results, will be submitted to the materials specialist for review.

4.2 Approval test programme submission

4.2.1 For each product submitted for approval tests, the manufacturer is to provide the following information:
  1. Summary of the manufacturing process.
  2. Chemical composition specification to which the steel has been made. This is to include internal controls on chemistry that the works applies to the grade.
  3. Weight and dimensions of semi-finished product and method of casting.
  4. Results of tests undertaken in accordance with Ch 3, 3.1 Selection of material.
  5. Dimensions of products manufactured.

4.2.2 The Surveyor will submit the information requested in Ch 3, 2.1 Process and documents to be submitted and Ch 3, 4.2 Approval test programme submission to the materials specialist, together with any additional survey reports that were requested by materials specialists. In-house test results and photographs may be used to support the submitted information.
