Section 6 Inner bottom

6.1 General

6.1.1 This Section contains local scantling requirements applicable to the inner bottom. All inner bottom structure is to be evaluated according to Vol 1, Pt 6, Ch 4, 6.2 Scantlings and Vol 1, Pt 6, Ch 4, 6.3 Additional minimum requirements.

6.2 Scantlings

6.2.1 The scantlings of plating and stiffeners on the inner bottom are to be determined from the general equations given in Vol 1, Pt 6, Ch 4, 2 Minimum structural requirements, using the design pressures calculated according to Vol 1, Pt 5, Ch 5, 6.1 Pressure on inner bottom.

6.3 Additional minimum requirements

6.3.1 If the Complementary Rules are the Rules for Naval Ships then the scantlings of plating and stiffeners are not to be less than those given in Table 3.2.1 Minimum structural requirements in Vol 1, Pt 6, Ch 3 of the Rules for Naval Ships.

6.3.2 If the Complementary Rules are the Rules for Ships then the scantlings of plating and stiffeners are not to be less than those given in:

6.3.3 If the Complementary Rules are the Rules for Special Service Craft then the scantlings of plating and stiffeners are not to be less than those given in Table 3.2.1 Minimum thickness requirements in Pt 6, Ch 3 of the Rules for Special Service Craft.
