1.1.2 The Owner/Naval
Authority should provide the Surveyor with a clear shell expansion
plan upon which the search lines marked on the hull have been clearly
marked for guidance.
1.1.3 The general
hull condition should be noted and the diver should be requested to
pay particular attention to the rudders, rope guards, eddy plates,
anodes, sonar domes and fairings, propellers, all sea inlets, stabilizers
and stabilizer openings and bilge keels.
1.1.4 At the same
time as inspecting items as detailed in Ch 8, 1.1 Survey requirements 1.1.3,
all attachments/fastenings to the shell should be thoroughly checked
and any defects should be recorded and reported.
1.1.5 On completion
of the underwater examination, the diver should provide a well documented
report which should be signed by the attending Surveyor and be submitted
as part of the LR report.
1.1.6 At the In-water
Survey, the diver should be requested to take the tailshaft clearance
measurements and the Surveyor should witness the rudder bearing clearances
if the design of the rudder allows this to be done.
