Section 3 Load cases

3.1 Design load cases

3.1.1 Design load cases are given in Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 for transversely framed ice belt and Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 for longitudinally framed ice belt, respectively. Details of the load patch locations are shown in Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 and Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 for transverse framed ice belt, and Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 and Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 for longitudinally framed ice belt, respectively.

3.1.2 Additional load cases may need to be examined where capacity of the grillage primary member under the combined effects of bending and shear is minimised.

Table 3.3.1 Design load cases for transversely framed ice belt

Load case Horizontal location of ice patch load, see Note 2 Vertical location
T1 Between web frames in way of centre of hold Stringer, see Note 1
T2 Between adjacent web frame and transverse bulkhead Stringer, see Note 1
T3 Between web frames in way of centre of hold Deck
T4 Between adjacent web frame and transverse bulkhead Deck
T5 Centre of web frame in way of centre of hold Above stringer
T6 Centre of adjacent web frame in way of transverse bulkhead Above stringer
T7 Centre of web frame in way of centre of hold Between stringers/decks
T8 Centre of adjacent web frame in way of transverse bulkhead Between stringers/decks
T9 Centre of web frame in way of centre of hold Above deck
T10 Centre of adjacent web frame in way of transverse bulkhead Above deck
T11 Centre of transverse bulkhead Stringer
T12 Centre of transverse bulkhead Between stringers/decks
T13 Centre of transverse bulkhead Deck
Note If several horizontal stringers are arranged with same dimension and details within the ice belt as (A) in Ch 3, 3.1 Design load cases 3.1.2 , one of the representatives is to be analysed.
Note If port and starboard have different structural configuration, additional load cases are to be analysed.
