3.1.1 The fabrication
specification should state the extent of visual inspection and non-destructive
examination along with details of the techniques and the appropriate
acceptance criteria.
3.1.3 Quality
control levels for weld flaws found by radiographs, ultrasonic testing,
magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspection, as appropriate, are
to be approved by LR and shall be imposed during fabrication as a
means of quality control.
3.1.4 Welded
joints critical to the integrity of the structure should be subjected
to radiographic examination and/or, where applicable, surface examination
during construction. This non-destructive examination should be carried
out prior to delivery, after the completion of welding and prior to
any coating which would adversely effect the type of non-destructive
examination being undertaken. Any repairs resulting from the testing
are be re-examined.
3.1.5 Any necessary
repairs and corrective actions are to be carried out to the satisfaction
of the LR Surveyor and in accordance with an agreed procedure.
