2.1.1 The
propulsion equipment and systems shall be designed, constructed and
maintained to minimise danger to personnel on board in all foreseeable
operating conditions.
2.1.2 The
design, construction, installation and operation of propulsion equipment
shall not cause interference or excessive forces that could lead to
its failure or failure of other equipment and systems.
2.1.3 Effective
means of communicating orders from the conning positions to any position
from which the speed and direction of thrust of the propellers can
be controlled shall be provided.
2.1.4 Means
shall be provided whereby normal operation of propulsion machinery
can be sustained or restored even though one of the essential auxiliaries
becomes inoperative.
