11.1.1 Interim Certificates
are to be issued to the Owner/ Naval Authority for all surveys, to
keep him fully advised, and a copy placed on board for the information
of Relevant Authorities and Surveyors at subsequent surveys. In the
normal way these certificates should be issued together with the account
for survey fees before the ship leaves port. If necessary, a handwritten
copy may be left on board and a composite issue sent from the office
to the Owner/Naval Authority as soon as possible thereafter for placing
on board. When the ship is going to another port for further survey,
a copy should be sent to the Surveyors concerned.
11.1.2 A copy of
the Interim Certificate is not to be sent to Headquarters.
11.1.3 It is to
be clearly understood that Interim Certificates issued by LR’s
Surveyors are not regarded as certificates of seaworthiness since
LR‘s Classification Surveys do not cover all necessary elements.
11.1.4 A Certificate
of Class is issued by LR on completion of verification that the recommended
Special Survey or Continuous Survey of Hull date can be assigned.
11.1.5 To guard
against falsification, each original certificate of whatever nature
is to be individually signed. Each certified copy, which may be either
a carbon copy, or a photocopy of the original, or separately typed,
must bear a rubber stamp to the effect that it is a true copy, and
each copy is to be individually signed.
