Section 5 Air

5.1 General

5.1.1 The Surveyor is to check the following to confirm that the vessel meets the requirements to prevent air pollution:

  1. The engines, main and auxiliary (except those for emergency use) with a power output of 130 kW or more meet with the NOX Emission requirements agreed between LR and the Naval Authority.

  2. The incinerator, if fitted, is of an approved type for shipboard use.

  3. The ship is keeping records of all fuel oil deliveries.

  4. All fuel oil delivered to the ship has a sulphur content of below 4,5 per cent and the bunkering agent or source of supply is giving details of the fuel quality, including the sulphur content.

5.1.2 Should there be any query as to the sulphur content in the fuel oil, the Surveyor is to request that samples be sent for testing/analysis.
