Section 4 LR Thickness Measurement Software

4.1 General

4.1.1 Lloyd’s Register Thickness Measurement Software enables users to record, store and print the thickness measurement reports of hull structures in accordance with LR requirements at Periodical Surveys.

4.1.2 This particular software allows measurements to be compared against nominal thickness. It currently only highlights areas of substantial corrosion/excessive diminution in accordance with the requirements of ships designed to the Ship Rules, therefore diminution levels of ships designed to the Naval Ship Rules and SSC Rules will have to be checked manually. Diminution results are calculated automatically once measurements have been entered. The forms are laid out individually in a format which enables the operator to simply and easily input the correct data.

4.1.3 Where the version of the software being used does not have an option for naval ships, the diminutions will have to be individually assessed against the corrosion policy of the ship, as defined in Ch 11, 2 Corrosion margins.
