Clasification Society Rulefinder 2016 - Version 9.25
Clasification Society Provisional Rules - Technical Background to the Provisional Rules for the Classification of Stern First Ice Class Ships, November 2011 - Chapter 6 Direct Calculations and Non-Standard Load Scenarios - Section 3 Scenario document for non-standard load scenarios

Section 3 Scenario document for non-standard load scenarios

3.1 General

3.1.1 The purpose of the scenario document is to document the assumptions and criteria used by the designer when alternative or non standard scenarios are considered in addition to the standard load scenarios adopted by the prescriptive requirements of Ch 3 Ship Structures, Ch 4 Main and Auxiliary Machinery and Ch 5 Control and Electrical Systems in the Rules.

3.2 Application of alternative ice class Rule requirements

3.2.1 The Scenario document for non standard load scenarios may also be used to document assumptions for applying alternative ice class Rule requirements to Stern First Ice Class Ships.

3.2.2 For dual class arrangements, where SFIC notation is required, but an alternative ice class is specified, for example, compliance with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping ice categories Arc5, 6, 7 and 8, the philosophy of the Rules is to be followed. This includes adopting a ‘stern as a bow’ approach to hull ice-strengthening, with consideration of ice-strengthening extents based on the practice in the Rules.
