Section 1 Scope

1.1 Scope

1.1.1 The requirements of this Chapter address the principles of human-centred design and ergonomics in the design and construction of submarines.

1.1.2 The requirements of this Chapter provide for:

  1. The hazards associated with personnel at control stations and the related physical hazards;
  2. Cognitive aspects of control station design for both traditional and computer-based control; and
  3. General lighting and task lighting.
