Section 1 Concept

1.1 Operating context

1.1.1 The Concept of Operations Statement (ConOpS) is the Owner’s vision of how the submarine is to be operated and maintained throughout its life-cycle. It is to be produced by the Owner and shall be agreed with the Naval Administration. It is to be provided for each stage of the Submarine Assurance process to inform verification activities.

1.1.2 System operational concepts derived from the ConOpS are to be provided by the designer to ensure that system functions, dependencies, operating modes and criticality are adequately defined to perform verification activities. They are to be provided at the design stage and maintained for construction and through life.
