3.1 General

  3.1.1 On completion of the construction of the ship, or as soon as practicable thereafter, measurement of noise levels in all spaces specified in chapter 4 shall take place under the operating conditions specified in sections 3.3 and 3.4 and shall be suitably recorded as required by section 4.3.

  3.1.2 Measurements of the A-weighted equivalent continuous sound level, LAeq(T) shall be made for the purpose of ensuring compliance with chapter 4.

  3.1.3 Measurements of the C-weighted equivalent continuous sound level LCeq(T) and the C-weighted peak sound level LCpeak shall be made in spaces where LAeq(T) exceeds 85 dB(A) for the purpose of determining appropriate hearing protection according to the HML-method, see chapter 7 and appendix 2.
