The design pressure of an enclosed space should be the maximum
value of the following:
-
.1 MARVS of relevant cargo holds; or
-
.2 for an enclosed space which may be segregated
from all pressure relief valves, an envisaged maximum pressure at
the ambient temperature, at the discretion of the Administration,
under the assumption that the total amount of NGHPs on the cargo handling
system in the space dissociate and the natural gas is contained in
the space.
In this context, the provision of paragraph
5.2.3.3 of the IGC Code, i.e. the requirement of design pressure
for process pressure vessels and piping, need not apply to spaces
containing cargo handling systems on NGHP carriers.
