2.4 The Galapagos marine reserve has high biodiversity.
Galapagos is unique, and is one of the few ocean archipelagos in the
world that still maintains its ecosystems and biodiversity without
interference from human activities. Its mangroves offer a gathering-place
for fish, crustacean and mollusc species. There are also nesting grounds
for sea and land birds, some of which, such as the mangrove finch,
are found nowhere else in the world.
