13.1 Crew accommodation spaces and work spaces
shall be of sufficient size, adequate construction, and with suitable
equipment to provide for the safe operation of the vessel and the
protection and accommodation of the crew in a manner practicable for
the size, facilities, service, route, speed and modes of operation
of the vessel. The deck above a crew accommodation space shall be
located above the deepest load waterline.
13.2 Sleeping accommodation shall be provided
for all crewmembers of the vessel where it is operated for more than
12 hours in a 24-hour period, unless the crew is put ashore and the
vessel is provided with a new crew including the Master.
13.3 Sleeping accommodation shall consist of a
bunk or cot for each crewmember and at least 50% of these shall be
provided with lee boards or lee cloths.
