Serious structural deficiencies

  • .4 Reporting deficiencies to the relevant competent authority in cases where the safety of the transport of dangerous goods is compromised as a result of serious or repeated infringements by an enterprise which has its headquarters on the territory of another competent authority.
  • .5 If a CSC container is determined to be seriously structurally deficient or has not been examined as required, the inspector should place the container out of service.

  • .6 Clear detention statements should be used. The following sample text may be appropriate for both the deficiency report and marking for a seriously structurally deficient container: "Prior to reloading or reuse in international transportation, this container must be re-inspected for compliance in accordance with the procedures prescribed by [insert appropriate legal authority]".
