Ct-pr : Permissible shear stress coefficient for primary supporting members taken equal to:
  • Ct-pr = 0.70 for AC-S.
  • Ct-pr = 0.85 for AC-SD.

DB : Length of the double bottom within hold under consideration, in m. Where stools are provided at transverse bulkheads, DB may be taken as the distance between the toes.

BDB : Distance between the toes of hopper tanks at centre of ℓDB within hold under consideration, in m.

xc : X coordinate, in m, of the centre of double bottom structure under consideration with respect to the reference coordinate system, as defined in Pt 1, Ch 1, Sec 4, [3.6].

x, y, z : X, Y and Z coordinates, in m, of the evaluation point with respect to the reference coordinate system, as defined in Pt 1, Ch 1, Sec 4, [3.6].

φ : Major diameter of the openings, in m.

α : The greater of a or S1, in m.
