1.5.1 Where the Code provides that a particular
detail of design or construction, fitting, material, appliance or
apparatus, or type thereof, should be fitted or carried in a unit,
or that any particular provision should be made, the Administration
may allow any other detail of design or construction, fitting, material,
appliance or apparatus, or type thereof, to be fitted or carried,
or any other provision to be made in that unit, if it is satisfied
by trial thereof or otherwise that such detail of design or construction,
fitting, material, appliance or apparatus, or type thereof, or provision,
is at least as effective as that provided for in the Code.
1.5.2 When an Administration so allows any fitting,
material, appliance, apparatus, item of equipment or type thereof,
or provision, procedure, arrangement, novel design or application
to be substituted, it should communicate to the Organization the particulars
thereof, together with a report on the evidence submitted, so that
the Organization may circulate the same to other Governments for the
information of their officers.
