Section 15 Seawater salinity

15.1 Functional objective

15.1.1 The submarine, systems, equipment and components shall be able to operate when exposed to the range of water salinity which can be experienced by the submarine in all foreseeable operating conditions.

15.2 Performance requirements

15.2.1 The maximum and minimum static and transient salinity shall be defined for normal and abnormal operating conditions.

15.2.2 The systems, equipment and components are to be verified as being effective and safe for the full range of salinity.
