Description
Manufactured in briquette form and is usually white, brown or grey. It is
very similar in size, appearance and handling to gravel and is dry and dusty. Deadburned
magnesia is natural magnesite calcined at very high temperatures, which results in a
non-reactive magnesium oxide, which does not hydrate or produce spontaneous heat.

As the density of the cargo is extremely high, the tank top may be
overstressed unless the cargo is evenly spread across the tank top to equalize the
weight distribution. Due consideration shall be given to ensure that the tank top is not
overstressed during the voyage and during loading by a pile of the cargo.
Precautions
Prior to loading, the shipper or the manufacturer shall provide the master
with a declaration stating that the cargo has been sufficiently heat-treated and is
ready for loading.
