Section 3 Intact Stability Aspects

3.1 The program is to be capable of calculating and printing, for each loading condition, the list of deadweight items and their corresponding centres of gravity, displacement, final VCG, LCG, draughts, trim, GM, free surface correction and, where available, TCG. It should be noted that the method adopted by the program to calculate the free surface correction should be the same as that shown in the approved stability booklet.

3.2 The following will also be assessed:

  • Residual GZ distribution, in curvilinear form, showing compliance or otherwise with intact stability criteria.
  • Angle of downflooding.
  • Limiting KG/GM value showing compliance or otherwise with intact stability criteria.

3.3 The program should take account of any initial angles of heel when carrying out stability calculations.

3.4 The program should also be capable of taking account of wind, icing and water absorption in timber when carried on deck.
