Manning of survival craft and supervision

  14.10.4 There should be a sufficient number of trained persons on board for mustering and assisting untrained persons.

  14.10.5 There should be a sufficient number of certificated persons on board for launching and operating the survival craft to which personnel are assigned.

  14.10.6 Certificated persons should be placed in command and as second-in-command of each lifeboat.

  14.10.7 The person in command of the lifeboat and the second-in-command should have a list of all persons assigned to the boat and should see that persons under their command are acquainted with their duties.

  14.10.8 Every lifeboat should have a person assigned who is capable of operating the lifeboat radio equipment.

  14.10.9 Every lifeboat should have a person assigned who is capable of operating the engine and carrying out minor adjustments.

  14.10.10 The person in charge of the unit should ensure the equitable distribution of persons referred to in paragraphs 14.10.4, 14.10.5 and 14.10.6 among the unit’s survival craft.
