![]() 5.3 Periodically Unattended Machinery Spaces:(1) Whilst nothing in this Code precludes ships to which the Code applies from being optionally compliant with the requirements for periodically Unmanned Machinery Spaces (UMS), such a ship shall not operate in this mode whilst in service as a Code vessel, provided that when on transitional voyages without passengers such ships may operate in the UMS mode subject to the approval of the Administration. (2) Every ship to which this Code applies and which complies with the periodically unattended machinery space standards in accordance with subsection (1) also comply with the applicable requirements of Chapter II-1, Part E of SOLAS, with respect to electrical installations. |
