II Recesses

  1 Recesses may be treated as actual or fictitious compartments using the example in Figure A-6.

  2 The following nomenclature is used in this section:

l 1, l 2, l 3 length of damage zones as shown in Figure A-6;
p 1, p 2, p 3 are p calculated according to regulation 25-5.1, using l 1, l 2, l 3 as l;
p 12, p 23 are p calculated according to regulation 25-5.1, using l 1 + l 2 and l 2 + l 3 as l;
p 123 is p calculated according to regulation 25-5.1, using l 1 + l 2 + l 3 as l;
r 1 is r calculated according to regulation 25-5.2, using l 1 as l and b as shown in Figure A-6;
r 2 is r calculated according to regulation 25-5.2, using l 2 as l and b as shown in Figure A-6;
r 12, r 23 are r calculated according to regulation 25-5.2, using l 1 + l 2 as l and b as shown in Figure A-6;

  3 Application to actual compartments:
